EBA 2ND 16 & Water Of Leith Wednesday Nights

EBA 2ND 16 & WATER OF LEITH WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

As announced in December, the EBA proposal of league restructure was voted against by the member clubs at the EBA AGM.

Some may see it as a lack of ambition as all 2nd 16 teams can go no further once you reach the 2nd 16 top league. The new structure would have allowed more movement between the leagues and a chance for any 2nd 16 teams to push on further.

There is also the issue with the travelling across town on a Wednesday evening at peak times to play a league fixture.

So restarting this season is the Water of Leith league on a Wednesday evening. Slightly different to the EBA format as it is 3 rinks instead of the normal 4. There are currently 8 teams in the league, where Sighthill BC are one of the 8. There has been interest from members to be part of the Water of Leith league.

There will be a sheet on the noticeboard where we need to know of members who wish to play in EBA 2nd 16 or Water of Leith 12. We need to know by 23rd February if we have enough bodies for the EBA 2nd 16 as the deadline to submit to EBA is before we have our own AGM unfortunately.

If we don’t have enough bodies for EBA 2nd 16 for this season and then decide to re-enter the following season then the team would have to start in the lowest league which would undo all the hard work over the past 3 years where the 2nd 16 are currently in the top league and were one bowl away from winning the league last season.

Happy to have discussions with anyone who has questions about either the EBA 2nd 16 or the Water of Leith league.
